The meeting of Pioneer Lodge "held on September 26 was presided over by N.G. Bro. J. Duncan, when the accumulation of quarterly business was attended to. Arrangements were also completed in regard to the progressive euchre evening, to be held on next meeting night. The annual report of the U.F.S.C. was received and read to the meeting. One candidate was initiated into the order, and applications were received for degrees. Thanks were extended to visitors end acknowledged by several members of sister lodges. Leith Lodge held a successful meeting on Monday last, N : .G. Bro. Wyber presiding over a record attendance. Routine business was despatched quickly to enable P.G.M, Bro. Valentine and P.D.D.G.M. Bro. Ripley to take charge of the social part of the evening P.G.M. Bro. Robb, D.D.G.M. Bro. J. Skinner, and members from Pioneer, Unity, and Linden Lodges wove welcomed Harmony was indulged in, when tHe following brothers contributed items;—Bros. Tyne, Hendry, Swan, Smith, M'Peak, MTvinlny, Fox, and Caldwell. Prior to dispersing supper' was served. The quarterly meeting of Unity Lodge was hold on Monday, last. Several sick claims were passed for payment, and correspondence dealt with, which included an invitation from Linden Lodge to attend its "Veterans’ night." It was resolved to attend officially. Members were notified of the next meeting of District Lodge, when the first degree would be conferred One brother was granted his certificate to receive the three degrees. It was resolved to procure a photo of P.G.S. Bro, William Reid. Mention was made of the item on the syllabus for next meeting, and it was resolved to invite Linden Lodge to take charge o[ that occasion. The visitors-' vote was responded to by P.G.M. Bro. Valentine (Leith Lodge). There was a fairly good attendance at the quarterly meeting of Linden Lodge. N.O. Bro. R. Lorimer sent an apology for absence, and P.D.D.G.M. Bro, W. Smith presided. Routine quarterly business was disposed of, and a considerable amount of correspondence, including the annual report of the Otago United Friendly Societies' Council, dealt with. A request from Linda He* bekah Lodge to bo identified with the Wm, Reid memento was agreed to. Arrangements for the veterans' night on October i wore discussed, and Bro. J. Cunningham consented to gave a few reminiscences. Bro. F. 'Wilkinson, Grand Secretary, conveyed fraternal freetings from Washington and Ridgley Lodges, Christchurch, and reported that the former lodge was making wonderful strides in membership, numbering 520 members at tho end of June. P.G.’s Winctiold and Shore (Unity Lodge) responded for the visitors. On Saturday. September 23, (he annual children’s night was held, proving a groat success, upwards of 100 juveniles and adults thronging the hall. Bro. R. Lorimer, X. 0., welcomed tho guests, including a strong contingent of the Ist Roslyn Girl Ponce Scouts (in charge of Scontmistress Taylor), who were present by invitation. Members of the Highgato Juvenile Lodge were also in attendance in large numbers. Several of these assisted in (he social programme, and all heartily entered into games directed by Bros. A. K. Willunsoii and R. Lorimer. Refreshments were provided and all the younger children were supplied with sweets, a very pleasant evening concluding with the singing of the National Anthem. N.G. Bro. W.
