Driving a 450 horsepower Baraelmars machine, he nearly lost nis life owing to strangulation in raid-air. Ho tied a map around his neck while travelling 210 miles an hour. The force of th'e wind blew the papers and caused the string to tighten around liis neck. James managed to prevent suffocation, but lost the map and so abandoned the contest.— A. and N.Z. Cable.
