MINING.

The following progress report of work in the Hauraki Mines has come to hand:—in the Welcome Find section etopmg on tno reef above the 400 ft level during the past week has been confined to the northern end of the block, the ore being of hotter grade than that from the south end. The rise north of the main rise will be connected by No. 1 atope this week. Ventilation should then be good enough to resume rising toward the point where the good ore was obtained at the intermediate drive. The new reef in tbo drive north from No. 2 winze is still looking promising. A start has been made to gink another winze midway between the two existing winzes at a point where picked stone was obtained ,by the previous company when driving the 400 ft level.
