THE RAILWAY SHOPMEN. MR HARDING’S PROPOSALS ACCEPTED, Pnii AMooiatktt—By TWogrsph—Copyright CHICAGO, August 2. The striking railway shopmen have accepted generally Mr Harding’s proposals, which provided that both sides shall recognise the validity of all railway labour boards’ decisions, and shall carry them out. It also provides for the ■withdrawal of all lawsuits, all the strikers to return to work, with their seniority and other rights unimpaired. THE COAL STRIKE. MARTIAL LAW IN INDIANA. FREE LABOUR TO WORK MINES. NEW YORK, August 3. (Received August 3, at 10.15 p.m.) The Governor of Indiana declared martial law in the counties, took over a strip of surface coal mines, called for volunteers to work them, and sent 1000 militia to maintain order.—A. and N.Z.
