A young man named Lionel Norman Haigh, was committed for trial on charges of conspiring to defraud another of £503, and obtaining, with intent to defraud, two others of £IOO each. Evidence was given to the effect that accused advertised for partners’ who required to invest the sums mentioned. Shortly afterwards he dissolved partnerships, paying in promissory notes. ■ The holders had obtained no money. Accused pleaded not guilty, and reserved his defence.
