LONDON WOOL SALES.

THE MAY SERIES. (Pbb United Pbbsh Association.) WELLINGTON. May, 23. The British-Australian Wool Realisation Association, London, has cabled to the New Zealand Wool Committee, Wellington, as follows:—“London, May 20. Sales concluded yesterday, with prices equal to the best of the series. Homo' and principal Continental buyers were sound supporters, and America was also operating. The most noticeable feature was the advance in prices for 46’s quality and below. Scoured merino realised up to 4s Id, and greasy merino up to 3s all its offering. Free wool was cleared to the extent of 98 per cent. Compared with the closing rates of the March sales, prices advanced as follows: —Super, merino, 5 per cent..; average merino combing, 10; merino pieces and bellies, 15; fin© crossbred, superior, 10; fine crossbred, average, 15; medium crossbred, superior, 10; medium crossbred, average, 15; low crossbred of all 1 - descriptions, 20. Closing quotations: Clean scoured, 70’a to 80’s, 5s 2d; 70’s, 4s 7d; 64’s, 4s Id 1 ; 60’s, 3b 7d; 58's, 3s 2d; topmaking 70’s, 4s Id; 64’s, 3e lOd; 60’s, 3s 4d; 58’s. 2s lOd; 56’s, 2s sd; 50’s, Is 7d; 48’s, Is 2d 46’5,-Is 44’s, Hid; 40’s, 10id; 36’s, lOd. Cape wools were 7i to 10 per' cent, dearer. “On offer at Liverpool next week 40,000 bales, being: Australian, 28,000; New Zealand, 12,000. And at Antwerp the following week 20,000 bales, being 10,000 Australian and 10,000 Cape.”
