* UNITED STATES’ OCCUPATION. DUE TD GERMANY’S ATTITUDE. Preen Association—By Telegraph—Copyright WASHINGTON, May 8.(Received May 8, at 9.30 p.m.) Mr Lansing (Secretary of State in the Wilson Administration) has sent a letter to the Senate Committee which is considering Haiti affairs,) stating that the United States’ occupation of Haiti was due largely to Germany’s attitude. Germany appeared ready in 1913-14 to go to great lengths to secure exclusive Customs’ control and a coaling station there under the pretext of Haiti’s financial instability. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
