BLAZING PETROL

FIRE IN DISTILLERY. FINE SAVE BY BRIGADES Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, April 26. Forty-five fire brigades fought a fire at the Capel Leonards petrol distillery at Hackneywick. Lorries were requisitioned to throw tons of sand on the blazing oil. The flames shot hundreds of feet into the air as the oil tanks became involved. Neighbouring houses and factories were evacuated, the inhabitants fearing explosions. The Fire was eventually controlled, only the still house being gutted. Fifty tanks, each holding 5000 gallons, which were within the works, escaped.—Reuter.
