LADIES’ GOLF

The open championship of Otago was continued on the Balmacewen links on Thursday morning, conditions for golfing being ideal, though the home paddock was Still heavy. The first round of the championship was played off, with the following result: — Miss Anderson (Christchurch) beat -Mrs Cowie (Invercargill), 4 up and 3 to play. Mrs Orbell ' (North Otago) beat Mrs Dodgshun (Balmacewen), 6 up and 4 to play. . Mrs Cook (Balmacewen) beat Mrs M'Carthy (St. Clair) 1 up at the last hole. Miss Glendining (Balmacewen) beat Mrs Carr (Invercargill), 2 up. The semi-finals were played' yesterday morning, with the following result: Miss Anderson (Christchurch) beat Mrs Orbell (North Otago), 5 up and 4 to play. Mrs Cook (Otago) beat Miss Glendming (Otago), 6 tip and 4 to play. The final between Miss Anderson and Mrs Cook will be played this morning, and in the afternoon there will be mixed foursomes.
