FREEZING WORKS EMPLOYEES
STRIKERS FINED. (Peb United Pbesr Association.) GISBORNE. April 27. Ninety-six summonses against the freezing •works employees ot the Poverty Bay Meat Company, in connection with the strike that occurred at the works on March 16, were heard this morning before Mr Barton, S.M. Twentv-three of the oases were struck out on the" ground that the defendants had not participated in the strike. In the remainder of the cases, the Labour Department claimed the full penalty under the Act (£10), but did not press for it on tjie defendants admitting tne offences. Each was fined £2 and 5s costs.
