At tho wool sales a good selection of merinos suitable for the Continent sold well at full prices. Crossbreds were firm and unchanged. (Received March 23, at 5.5 p.m.) At the wool sale there was a very moderate selection, but good general competition for all sorts. Prices were very firm. An influential Bradford meeting decided to register the Wool Textile Finance Company to carry out tho insurance scheme.—A. and N.Z. Cable. [The Yorkshire Observer states that the London directors of "Bawra" favour acquiring a considerable share in the projected Wool Textile Finance Company, and have made favourable representations regarding participation to the Australian Board, which, it is understood, has the question under consideration.] BEHLLNI EXCHANGE RATE. CHRISTCHURCH RAM FAIR. (F«» Dhitjlu Press association.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 23. The annual Ram Pair was commenced today with a sale of flock rams. There was a very large entry, totalling 5911. The yarding was considerably in excess of requirements, and prices were low and passings frequent, particularly among longwools. There was an over-supply of Corriedales, which brought the values back considerably on those secured last year. Halfbreds were in a shade better position. English Leicear tors sold weakly. Borders were better, but Romneys and Lincolns were not wanted. By far the best demand was for Downs, practically all offering selling at fairly satisfactory prices. Top prices were; —English Leicester, 6gns; Romneys, 2gns; Lincolns, Ign; Corriedales, 9gns; Border Leicester®, 9gns; Shropshires, Ogns; Southdowns, 9gns; halfbreds, 7gns; merinos, 3gns.
