Holland, that he was not prepared to believe that immigrants were being used to victimise the miners on the West Coast. Last April I applied for ' a vadoney at a mine not 100 miles from Dunedin, and was fortunate enough to secure it. I wae promised steady employment at Ifls 2d a day. After I had been there about a month a Scotch immigrant came along with a pitiful tole and woe employed m , the same capacity as 1 was at 16a a day. In October me company found it necessary ; to retrench, and I was told kr finish at ■ the end of the week, and the immigrant ; was kept on, I inquired of the manager if “ I was not. giving satisfaction, and he replied • that I was, but it had been decided to keep on the immigrant, as he was accepting i Jess money. If Mr Noaworthy does not call ■ this victimisation I should like to know . what ho doea call it.—l am, etc., ( Jobless Joe No. 2. ; <T- ■■
