NGAPUHI BADLY BURNED. (Pee United Pnsaa Association.) AUCKLAND, Novombor 4. At about 11 o’clock last night a fire was discovered on the Northern Steamship Company’s steamer Ngapuhi, in Calliope dock, shortly after a blacksmith's employee had left the vessel. The stewards’ quarters and tlio steerage cabin were burnt out, and the icmaincler of the after portion of the vessel was more or leas damaged. Good work by naval men probably saved the vessel from total destruction. [The Nganuhi is a steel steamer of 691 tons gross register, and was built at Dundee in 1900 for the Northern Steamship Company (Ltd.) by Gourlay Bro«. and Co. She was first engaged in the OnehungaNcw Plymouui run, and later in the Auck-land-W]*mgarei route. Of recent years she has traded between Auckland and Tauranga.j ,
