MOTOR TYRE TAX
STATEMENT BY MR COATES. (Pkb United Pbess Association.) AUCKLAND. August 13. Replying to a deputation which was introduced by Sir Frederick Lang, the Hon. J. G. Coates said that he was unable to state what his proposals were in respect to the tyre tax. It would be in the vicinity of what was suggested by tho motor associations (15 per cent.), possibly slightly more. Tiro board would have complete control, and would make any recommendation and say what work was essential and the order in which it should be done. There must be no parochial view. If it were thought advisable that some outside man with outstanding knowledge should join the board, that would be done.
