With regard to the final of tho New Zealand Billiards Amateur Championship, which was concluded on Friday night, when H. G. Sicdeberg (Dunedin) beat R. Fredatovitch (Auckland) in a game of 1500 up by 412, tho Christchurch Preas states that at the beginning of the afternoon session Siedeberg was a bit off his game, and Fredatovich, who was the first to get through the board, established an advantage of over 100. Fredatovich hod a lead of 150 when he got to his second hundred. Sicdeberg then came into action, and made 87 from centre pockets. The Aucklander played confidently, and when a scoring ehot was not possible he left tho balls safe. Ho had a lead of 215 when ho pot to 400, and shortly after made 59 from all-round play. Sicdeberg, mostly by losing hazards, put up 118, which was the best break of the tournament. He followed with a 27, and later on got 7G, mostly from losing hazards. The Dunedin man’s success in_ losing hazards enabled him to obtain the lend, and at the end of the first session the score Was: Sicdeberg 750, Fredatovich 707.
