BEER-DRINKING ORGY

REJOICINGS IN MUNICH. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, August 8. (Received Aug, 9, at 5.5 p.m.) The Munich correspondent of the Daily Express states that while Britain is still suffering from the war-time liquor restrictions, the people of Munich have joyously celebrated the return of the beerdrinkers’ “status quo.” A gigantic statue of Gargbrinus, the beer' god, was erected in the principal hall, and the cellars were connected with the mouth of the statue, from which poured a continuous stream of beer of pre-war strength, which was supplied free. Hundreds of men, women, and children brought tankards, pots, and pans, drank to the beer god and participated in the dances. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
