(Received Aug. 9, at 7.30 p.m.) The second phase of the Greek offensive in Asia Minor commenced with an attack north of Leftke. The Turks are outnumbered and are retiring. The struggle promises to be long and bloody, and the Greeks’ task is becoming more difficult as they advance. The losses in the late fighting are unknown, but probably are fairly equal on both sides. Turkish deserters are constantly surrendering.— Times. TURKISH ATTACKS ON FOREIGNERS. GREEKS BOMBARD TREBIZOND. LONDON, August 8. (Received Aug. 9, at 7.30 p.m.) In consequence of the Turkish attacks upon foreigners on the Asia Minor coast, Greek warships bombarded Trebizond, Samsun. and other ports.
