Ociieraily regarded as one of the greatest dancing personalities in the world,. Miss Dickson scored decisively in many stage hits in which sue conihined dancing, singing, and acting. When Uoorgc Eilziriaunco was scarcmng lor talent to interpret “raying the riper,” lie chose Miss Dickson for the role of Barbara Wyndhatn, a spoiled society girl of the “White Light’s” typo. That his selection was a good one, her clover handling of this most exacting role amply indicates. The story of “raying tne riper” describes the regeneration of a young wife whose whole life is given up to a mud scramble of pleasure and hectic excitement. How eventually a crash on Wall Street brings her to quieter and higher ideals makes an intense drama. The lavish settings of America’s ultra fashionable society leatherings, several of which were filmed by special permission in the homos of millionaires on Long Island, an£ the scenes of pleasure and gaiety alem* the Groat White Way are outstanding features of the production all of which is on a magnificent scale, and ranks among the half dozen really great photo-plays of the year. “Paying the Piper” will commence at O’Briens Empire -Theatre this afternoon. The Dorothy Gish comedy-drama will bo retained as a supporting feature. The Empire Grand Orchestra will render a specially arranged programme. The plan is at the Bristol.
