OLD IDENTITIES

PICNIC AT WAIKOUAITI. The usual • anniversary picnic (eighty-first anniversary) was held at Waikouaiti oh Wednesday last. There was a good attendance, quite a number of old identities being present. The weather was perfect, and everything passed off successfully, everyone seeming happy.. The piping and dancing competitions being held, there was an added attraction, and the grounds were enlivened by the sound of the bagpipes. The committee, under the guidance of Mr Alloock, deserves every credit for the way in which the arrangements were carried out. PORT CHALMERS ASSOCIATION. Despite the unfavourable weather there was a good) attendance at the quarterly meeting of the Port Chalmers Old Identities’ Association yesterday evening. Mr E. Knowstubb said it was pleasing to see so many present on such a wild evening. Ho cordially welcomed the visitors. Mr J. M/Lachlan explained the reasons for holding the recent annual picnic at Mount Royal instead of at Waitati; na at first proposed. The picnic was very successful. The evening’s programme was of the attractive form which has made old idientity gatherings so successful. Reminiscences of e.'.rly-day experiences were pleasingly punctuated with good singing. The singers were Miss Pritchard, Mrs Adair, Mrs Douglas, Mr Butler,, Mr Lloyd, and Mr De Mans. Miss M’Kenzie and Mrs BrebneV played the accompaniments.
