EVERYBODY’S THEATRE

“The Third Generation,” the new picture at Everybody’s Theatre, presents a story of a descendant of an old and honoured family, Alden Van Duaen, who, neglecting an old-estabished business, allows himself to bo swept, along with his young wife, into the whirlpool of social life. The result is that when the moment of need comes, the family exchequer is nob equal to tho emergency, and they are thrown into bankruptcy. By arrangement with Steele, a new member of the firm, Alden, after arranging with Steele that in case of his death his wife would be provided for by receiving a third of his estate, disappears m the clothes of a stranger who has saved him from suicide at the river bank, and is mourned by his wife as dead. Later on he turns up in the West, on the location of the Mail Tiger mine, which Steele and the other partner of the firm deeded to a dummy to save the company from ruin. By keeping his identity secret, he learns that his wife has been swindled out of her inheritance. Returning to the East just in time to prevent his wife’s marriage ti> another man, he attacks Steele, who is taken to the hospital, where he makes a readjustment •of matters. The family of Van Duson is happily reunited. “ The Third Generation” is played by a capable cast, Betty Blythe being cast as Helen Van Dusen. and Mohlon Hamilton as Alden. It is supported by a pretty travel film, and an interesting Gaumoit Graphic.
