WELLINGTON, January 1L A meeting o! the commission appointed to make recommendations. as to the number and distribution of totalisator permits fornext racinnr season was held in Wellington to-day, Mr F. Earle, K. 0., presiding. The returns of the different clubs regarding their applications for permits were presented by the secretary. It was resolved that in each of the four principal centres two or three speakers be heard on the general question of the issue of additional permits, and that upon such occasions the • proceedings of the commission be open to the press. The commission has agreed upon the itinerary of the Wellington and Hawke’s Bay districts, and will leave Wel-> lington to-morrow morning far Featherston and Masterton. It will return to this city -on January 19, via Manawatu.
