WEST HARBOUR COUNCIL
The monthly meeting of the West Harbour Borough Council, held last night, was attended by the Mayor (Mr H. E. Mailer), Cra Larnach, M'Ewau, Robertson, Smith, Ibbotson, Robb, Harridge, Mitchell, Eraser, Barker. The Mayor -welcomed back the' town clerk ' (Mr W. Connor), who has been absent lor a time through illness, and Cr Harridge. who has just returned from a trip to the Old Country. Or Harridge presented the Mayor and fdM'b councillor with a lucky farthing, and expressed the hope that 1 ® coins _ would bring them all the best of luck in the future. John Galloway drew the council s attention to the state of the drain from the road above his property.—Left in the hands of the town clerk with power to act. Alex. Campbell and A. H. Newey drew the council’s attention to the disgraceful condition of London street, “particularly to the side of the road where the footpath! should be.” They stated that instead of a path there was a trench from one to two feet deep, and asked the council to. give them access to their building sites. — Referred to the Works Committee. The dog tax was fixed at 10s. The Works Committee recommended that the footpath along the Main road be tarred and sanded, and that all ratepayers whose hedges overhung the paths he notified to cut them back. —Adopted. It was resolved, on the motion of Cr Eraser, to write, to Mr H. Miller, who is. leaving the district, thanking him for good services rendered to the community.
