AUCKLAND, October 23. ■The Auckland City Council, having exhausted every means in New Zealand to fioat an electricity loan of £50,000 at stper cent, without success, resolved to ask the Hon. Mr Massey on his visit to Auckland next month to receive a deputation asking authority from Parliament to five local bodies power to pay a higher rate on their debentures than 5A ner cent The prosecution of an A'uckland' chemist on a charge of profiteering has been recommended to tho Board of Trade by the Prices Investigation Tribunal. A charge of 2s 6d was made for a small bottle of medicine said to be similar to that, purchased by the tribunal s representative from other chemists for 6d.
