OCTAGON THEATRE

"Mary's Ankle" is the title of the principal picture in an attractive list at tho Octagon Theatre. A lady named May Tully has written a play for the stage under the same title, and according to all accounts Doris May, who with Douglas Maclean, shines largely in the production, has a "fair ankle." In the story there is a young doctor minus funds and patients and therefore impecunious.. He lives in single blessedness, but to gain his uncle's money sends out announcements of his marriage, and uncle comes to see tho bride. That produces an awkward situation. The juvenile doctor is in -a. corner, but the fertile writer for screen productions gets him out of his quandary—that is the beauty of the picture screen story—it affords so much scope for imagination, and tho production of what is well nigh impossible. In the present instance a pretty girl sprains her ankle in front of tho doctor's'place, is carried inside, _ and consents to play a part. That saves the situation and thereafter everything runs smoothly and the climax is an extremely gratifying one. The supporting subjects are brief, but very interesting. A splendid William Farnum production is promised for Friday in "The Man Hunter." Thjs photoplay has scenes on land and sea. It is said_ to be a " thriller" and to give Mr Farnum 'exceptional opportunity to show his fine dramatic ability. It is a case of from riches to poverty and back to riches again, with many stirring incidents in tho decline and fall and the " comeback." This picture will be awaited with peculiar interest because not only has Mr Farnum never made a poor picture but his productions are always big and satisfying. Seats may bo reserved at Begg's.
