GENERAL NEWS.

An important social event took place at Momona on Friday night, when a highly successful frujcy dress and masked ball was held. The attendance, which probably constituted a record, included visitors from Duncdin. Milton, and all parts of the Taieri Plain. Prizes were awarded for tho best fancy costumes, and these were wo- by Miss Alice Burns (Purity) and Mr A. vV. Johnson (Ruination). Excellent music was supplied by Messrs Price and Stewart's orchestra, and tho M.C.'s wcro Messrs L. Johnson, W. M'Dcuvell, J. Walker, and T. Moyniban.
