TRADE TREATY NEGOTIATIONS.

(Received Sept. 24, at 10.30 p.m.) Whilst China continued to negotiate a trade treaty with Soviet Russia, tho question of the status of tho Ozarist legation and consulates in China has been brought to a head. The Foreign Minister intimated that the Russian Minister, Prince Kondachcff, had better resign, and tho Prince, after dissenting, agreed. It _is understood that China proposes provisionally to take over all Russian public interests in China, and to hold them in trust pending future arrangements. Prince Kondacheff and his staff wfH remain at the Legation in charge of the-archives, the Chines© Government not having official status there. It is significant that the Legation warned the Consulate that China was in readiness to haul down the Russian flag.—Renter,
