(Pek United Phess Association.) , WELLINGTON, June 28. Mr M. Myers, appearing in support of an application for an additional liquor license at an adjourned/ meeting of tho Wellington Licensing Bench, raised the point that section 5 of the Act of 1910, providing that the number of licenses should continue the same after the poll if local no-license was not carried, was now not in force by reason of the fact that the Act of 1918 did away with local option, and, therefore, of that particular section, with tho result that tho number of wholesale licenses oould be legally increased The bench agreed, but, acting on its discretionary powers, refused to grant an additional license. A second similar application was also refused.
