SHEEP DOG TRIALS
The ninth meeting lor sheep dog trials took plaoe at> Walmate last week under very satisfaotory conditions. Splendid arrangements had been made in preparation for putting the large number of dogs through the, various teete, which consieted of three classes. The courses on this occasion provided praotical tests, "the long pull" especiiilly being 6uch that the clement of lnck was practically eliminated. Excellent sheep wore again provided from Centrewood, and the secretary had everything well in hand. The women of the local Presbyterian Ohurch Guild iilso won apprecintion by their efforte at the refreshment tent. The decisions of the judge (Mr. A. Elliot) were well reoeived, and the various other posts were capably filled. Results: — C'liiss 1. Haad, pull, and yard. About quarter of a mile.—Mr P. Kane's Rock 1, Mr E. In this olftss excellent work was performed, tho winning dog only falling one point short of tho maximum, and beating Brimcly, who lias won the event five times in euoceseion by a point. The prlnoipnl specials were won ns follows: — Mr M M'Rae's cup: Best team, Mr P. Kane; riot; making most points ah meeting, Mr Valentine's Trust; youth under 20 years making most points, Mr D. M'Rae 1, Mt A. Simpson 2: Mr Stud'nolmf'R special to youth under 20, Class 3: Mr D. M'tlae I; Mr Hamish M'Lenn's special as, second: Mr A- Rimpson; district competition, making most points, Mr S. Kenney, 93.
