SIR THOMAS MACKENZIE
FAREWELL BANQUET ARRANGED. LONDON, May 19. (Received May 20, at 10.40 p.m.) Mr Andrew Fisher (Australian High Commissioner) presided over a large meeting at Australia House of city men and officials to arrange a farewell to Sir Thos. Mackenzie. Sir Peter M'Bride (Agent-general for Victoria) said they regarded Sir Thos. Mackenzie as a man with whom they had always been able to consult on difficult problems affecting Australasia and the Empire. Mr Lloyd George wrote regretting that owing to health reasons he would be unable to preside at the banquet. Lord Milner (Secretary of State for the Colonies) agreed to preside at the banquet, which was fixed for June 10. An influential committee has been appointed, including Lord Harcourt, Lord Northcliffe, Lord Bnrnham, Lord Beaverbrook, Lord Inchcape, Sir Thos. Carmichael, and the Lord Mayor and councillors.—A. and N.Z. Cable. FAREWELL VISITS. (Received 21, at 0.20 a.m.) Sir Thomas Mackenzie will present a New Zealand flag to Bristol to-morrow. He •will inspect the Cardiff docks on Friday, and will be entertained by the Lord Mayor. He will return on Saturday, visiting the New Zealand graves at Salisbury en route.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
