Company, was tendered a farewell by a I representative gathering of business people on the eve of his departure on transfer for Timaru. The Deputy Mavor (Mr M. G. Sergeant L. G. Loveday, the winner of the King's Prize at Bisley, last year, and Rifleman H. V. Croxton, winner of the New Zealand championship at Trentfiam this year, are at present in Dunedin, en route to Great Britain as representatives of the dominion at the forthcoming rifle meeting at Bisloy. The two champions are ,to Bail from Port Chalmers by the s.s. Port Victor, via. Panama, and are expected to arrive in Great Britain aibout a week before the commencement of the meeting early in July. Mr Arthur Byrne, ,who is engaged in writing the history covering the part played by the Otago Infantry Regiment in the war, is at present visiting Dunedin in that connection, and expects to be in Otago for the next three weeks. It is hoped that the history, which is now neaiing completion, will be ready for publication at an early date. It promises to be a most comprehensive volume, embodying a narrative and survey of the deepest interest to the public. Mr Byrne is an ex-officer of. tße jegiment. and was formerly a member of the Kterar* staff erf the Otago Daily Times.
