—«.—; SOUTHLAND ■ CHAMPIONSHIP. (From Oub Own Corhespondknt ) INVERCARGILL, April 5. The final of the Southland Golf Championship was won by R. Wilson (Inveroargill), who beat Drake" (St. Clair). With six holes to go dormie two, Wilson was leading, and Drake pulled his shot from the rushes into the hazard. He struck more trouble, and landed- on the green in three. Wilson arrived in one, and Drake surrendered the hole to Wilson, giving him 3 up with 1 to play* In. the Ladies' Championship Mrs M'Cartliy beat Mrs Masters, ■ seven up and six to play. The winner played steady golf, and won on her approach strokes. Mrs Masters played well through the greens, but failed in approaching, playing t<io short. At the last hole Mrs Masters surrendered a stymie, giving Mrs M'Carthy the championship with 7 up and 6 to play. The Junior Championship was won by Macßeth (St. Clair), who defeated J. CuthiH by 5 up and 1 to' play. CHRISTCHURCH TOURAMENT. DR KENNETH ROSS WINS CHAMPIONSHIP. The eleventh annual tournament of the Ghristchurch Golf Club began at Shirley on Saturday under ideal weather conditions. The event to be_ decided was the amateur golf championship of Canterbury, under stroke play, and concurrently, a stroke handicap. In the first round of the championship, L. Bonnington played well un to form, and Dr Ross also returned a good card. The morning's stroke handicap was won by L. Bownington, with a net score of 75. H. W. Macfarlnno being sr»(xmd w'th 77. Dr K. Row, of Dimedin. who handed in a card of 78 in the sreond round, won the ohampiomslrp with a total of 159. The following are the scores: —
