AUCKLAND UNION'S DEMANDS. CONFERENCE DECISION. (Phb United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Jannary 6. Tho watersido workers to-day, at a stop-work meeting, hod before them tho resolutions adopted at the dominion conference held at Napier. These include representation on harbour boards, with a view to the eventual control of stevedoring, and tho inclusion of the Railway Department in future agreements, with preference to members of the federation. The conference decided to ask for a flat rate increase on existing rates at all ports of 6d per hour for ail classes of work; • treble overtime\ for Sundays, Christmas Day, and Good Friday; double rates for all overtime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., and treble rates thereafter. The Watersiders' Conference unanimously agreed that all men working, imported cool should be paid 3d por hour over tho prevailing rate for New Zealand cool; that the rato for the carrying of coal and trimmings in bunkers be uniform at all ports—viz., 2s 9d for carrying and 2s 9d for trimming ordinary, and overtime 5s 5d and 3s 8d respectively, and whatever additional rates may be gained in- the next agreement. The conference asks for 6d per hour above cargo rates for landing cheese. The Auckland watersides endorsed thfse recommendations.
