JAPANESE FISHERMEN OBJECTED TO.
ACTIVITIES TO BE LIMITED.

Responding to an agitation by returned soldiers, the Government has issued regulations limiting the activities of the Japanese in tho salftion fisheries of British Columbia, in which 10,000 men are employed. Recently tho Japanese have been buying up canneries extensively, threatening almost to monopolise the industry. The new regulations provide that largcscalo fishing and canning licenses heroafter" shall be granted only to men of tho white race. The same number of individual Japanese fishermen will be allowed as last year, but that number must remain a maximum for the future.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
