BALMACEWEN BOWLING CLUB

ANNUAL REPORT. The committee congratulates members on experienced a'fairly successful year Unfortunately the ideal weather at the beginning of tho season did not provo a good omen, as, owing to the influenza epidemic succeeded by unseasonable weathbr, play did not commence in earnest until tho season vras well advanced. Durin" the season tho club played 19 matehes, engaging 127 rinks, winning 53 and losing 74 tho percentage being 41.73, which placed our club fifteenth on tho list. Unfortunately, in common with most of the other clubs in tho centre, it was found impossiblo to finish all tho club ties. The Ohaxnpionshjp Singles were.ivon by Mr r H Jones with Mr R. Brockio as runner-up! iho iunks -were won by Messrs T I'ergusson, J. Buchan, A. W. Stables, R. Brockie. Tho Doubles imd Handicap biugles were unfinished. A young member, Mr .fas. Martin, was shaping well in tho latter, and would have been in tho fina! if not proving tho actual winner. Tho club is indehtcd to the president (Mr I' Omand) for the handsome gold medal which lie donated to the winner of tho Chanipionship Smgles. An appeal was made by t Mark Cohen for funds to provide a home for backward children and a phv ground for young children, our olub's conribution being £3 13a Tho club entered for the Holmes ieatbprs competition,, and tho rinks selected by skips who wero nominated by tho members of the club cavo a satisfactory account of themselves The club was well represented in tils Christmas at .tournaments and tho double— Hrndi f T nght ( j k,p) - an - d Mr F - onii »'d (lwd)-took second pnzo in the Citv Pairs r clllb to ho congratulated upon tho honour conferred upon one of its delegates Mr W. Wight, who lias born elected to the position oi chairman of tho centre, an office we feel suro he will fill with honour to the club and cred:t to himself The committee sincerely regrets the death of Mr VY. Kirkland an enthusiastic and trenial member of the club, and the loss in mem' bership caused -by the romoval from tho district of Messrs Bright, Larcombe, "Waterhouse, Gilroy, GWnead, Henderson, JCilgour, Brockie, Chiaroni, and Franklin Tho club welcomes hack its-, representatives at the front—Mr Robert Adamson and Mr ueorge Calder.
