PHESSMEN INSULTED. WITHDRAWAL FROM MEETING. (I'SB UnITSD PttS3S ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, September 12. A meeting of the Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association to consider the report of the deputation to Parliament regarding war gratuities was held in the Town Hall to-night, and was attended by representatives of the Wellington papers. A member of the association proposed that the press be excluded, and during tho discussion on this motion the references to the newspapers of Wellington and their reporting staffs were so ohensive that the pressmen withdrew without waiting for tho question to be put. It was announced afterwards thai the motion to oxcludo the press was heavily defeated, and that a motion that tho reporters should be aaked to return was carried. . A motion that the report of the depute tion to Parliament bo not received was lost, though it was largely supported, and the report was adopted.
