EXCESSIVE PUNISHMENT INFLICTED. (Peb Uhitzd Phess Assooiatioh.} PALMERSTON N., August 25 Judgment was given to-day by Mr Stout S.M., in the case of A. O. Buchler, head T!^ r West ? nd School, Palmerston JNortn, who was charged with assaulting Jack Oornford, s. pupil at the school. The Magistrate reoorded a conviction, holdW that the master had administered excessive punishment, and that the medical evidence showed that tho punishment was beyond the bounds of moderation. His Worship 'inflicted a fine of £2 and costs (£7 Us 6d)
