AUSTRALIAN SEAMEN'S STRIKE. NOT YET SETTLED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. _ SYDNEY, August 23. Although it is impossible to confirm the fact until after to-day's meeting, reports from Melbourne state that the strike is definitely over and that the ships will be manned on Monday. The round-table conference with the seamen commences at Melbourne on Monday.

SYDNEY, August 24. (Received Aug. 24, at 5.5 p.m.) At a meeting of the Seamen's Union today it was decided not to man the ships on Monday pending further advices from Melbourne.

SYDNEY, Angust 24. (Received Aug. 24, at 5.5 p.m ) Senator Millen has extended the time for the seamen's acceptance of the Government's terms in connection with the strike till noon on Monday.

EFFECT OF THE STRIKE. . ' . LONDON, Angnst 22. Shipping circles in London comment that the Australian strike is affecting seriously the commonwealth line of steamers. It is pointed out, in consequence of employing seamen with their home port ia Australia, 22 ships are held up m Australian ports, while overseas liners are moving freely round the coast.—A. and N.Z. BRITISH RAILWAY DISPUTE.

SETTLEMENT REACHED.

LONDON, August 22. (Received Aug. 24, at 5.5 p.m.) The railway men have accepted a settlement of their dispute.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
