"KATINKA."
The production of that most delightful opera Katanka "at His Majesty's Theatre pa Wednesday and Thursday next is bein,"looked forward to with interest by plav° goers because it was in New Zealand this time last year that its Australian premiere took place. On that occasion local theatregoers took Katinka" immediately to their hearts, and tho critics were most lavish in their praises of the new opera. The latter predicted a successful career for "Katinka" in Australia, and their judgment proved correct, as it attracted record-audi-ences for upwards of 15 weeks in Melbourne ajHTI4 weeks in Sydney, but in each oaso it had to bo withdrawn while it was still being played to packed houses simply to make room for other attractions. ■ Sinoe it was first , - staged here tho J. C. Williamson, Ltd., management lias, it is stated expended a very large sum of money on new and magnificent scenery, and tho cast lias been considerably strengthened.
