OTAGO HUNT

Quite an interesting gathering assembled at Mount Grand on Saturday afternoon to participate in tho hunt The prevailing conditions were ideal, the hounds and hunt servants ware quiite at homo at their business, and the horsemanship displayed by the young followers was excellent. A pleasinnfeature was the eagerness of the hounds' which kept well to their line. The two lady followers—Misses Mowat and M'Leod— were with the first flighters throughout The 17 hounds were cast in a nice, graissy paddock, and with celerity soon covered the first half-mile, and thence over the gors© hedge into tho stubble paddock, crossing a doable on to the Brockvillo road, then striking in a south-west direction over nico grassy paddocks and gorso hedges. Finally a left-handed turn was taken to the turnip paddock, where the hounds were drawn The view-point selected' by tho spectators wag a good one, thus enabling them to keep the pack in view throughout tho run A large number of owners were qualifvmg their horses for the Hunt Steeploehase meeting. Amongst the horses were- Ladv Supreme, P-ure Gold, Golden Clasn. Golden Rupee, Graftella, Hardshot, Ivy, and Morisco. At tho conclusion of the hunt an adjournment was made to Mr R. iXilziel's homestead, where one and all v,t>re entertained at afternoon tea. Before departing' tho master thanked Mr and Mrs Dalztel for their kindness, the followers supplementing his remarks by -rirmg cheers for the host and hostess. The properties hunted over nro owned by Me.isrs Charles Blackwood, R. Dnlziel, and Adam Blackwood.
