THE SALVATION ARMY
The Salvation Army will coiitplete the fiftieth year at its existence next month, ancl in celebration of this notable juhileo a congilJSs will be held in Wellington from June to 17. It is tho intention of -the local Silver Baud to be strongly represented at these celebrations, and fluids are now being gathered for that purpose. On Saturday evening the Silver Band, under Conductor A. Gould and Bandmaster A. Millard, gave a special musical programmo at the Fountain, which was mucli enjoyed by a large crowd. A collection 'wag taken up to augment the funds for sending tho band to Wellington. 1
Sunday was a special day in tho Salvation Army at Dowliug street. Major Gunn (diviaonal commander), assisted by Adjutant Oopp, conducted the different meetings during tho day. The meetings have been looked forward to keenly by the corps cadet brigade, and there were present some 50 corps cadets, representing Mosgiel, North and South Dunedin, Roslyn, and Dunedin City. The corps cadet brigade is formed from young people of the-ages of 14 to 18 years who are being trained for future service in the army. Each corps cadet had some particular work to do at the various meetings, and though many were very nervous yet they acquitted themselves really well. Some gave a short Bible address while others sang a solo. Daring the afternoon meeting each corps cadet was under sealed orders, and thus they did not know what their particular duty was until they were on the platform. Major Gunn complimented the young people's secretary on the efficiency of tho brigade:
