OCTAGON AND KING EDWARD THEATRES.

■O ■ Following the 'established custom, a. special programme of pictures was shown at the Octagon and King Edward Theatres on Saturday afternoon, the films having been' selected as being particularly suitable for children. The attendances -at both places of entertainment were large, 'and it was very evident that the youngsters quite enjoyed themselves. In the evening a complete change of pictures was made at these two theatres, the programme bsing headed by " By Right of Purchase," in which Miss Norma Talmadge appears as a girl who, for the sake of money, marries a man who truly loves her.. The tempter'comes along, and try insidious means upsets what had never been a happy home, and well-nigh wrecks it. To particularise a little more,' this society young lady is persuaded to marry the rich mail, telling him she does riot care, fcfr him; as a result, of which con- 1 fession the unusual agreement is come to that if at the end of. two years he has not won her love sh© is to have her freedom. Ho is generous and forbearing, and gives way at every point, with particularly unfortunate results up to a certain point. Finally there is an awakening on the part of the girl, wjho is compelled to, perhaps unconsciously, draw a comparison between two men —the on® proving himself worthy and the other unworthy, and in the end wrongs are righted and complete happiness is established. ■" By Right of Purchase" is sumptuously staged, superbly costumcd', and oxosedingly well produced. The supports are a Topical Gazette, "Beautiful Wales,", and a comedy called " The Road Agent." /
