The Defence Department is endeavouring to arrange so that the men returning by the Briton (due at Lyttelton on Tuesday) whose homes are situated south of Dunedin will be able to travel straight through m tbe one day. The draft for Otago and Southland is an unusually large one, and it will not be possible to allow any but the next-of-kin on to the station at Dunedin. Arrangements are being made to give the soldiers a rousing welcome back, and the pity bands have been asked to assist by providing a musical programme at the station.
