EPIDEMIC COMMISSION

PUBLIC HEALTH BOARD. (Pbb United' Peess Association.) OHRISTGHTIRCH, January 25 tt 1 i. Hon - Russel l (Minister of Pub'lio Health) to-day said that the order of reference for the Royal Commision to inquire into matters in connection with the epidemic had been passed by Cabinet, and was now ready to be submitted to the GovernorGeneral for his signature. Until the Viceregal signature has been appended no more could be said about matters. "The' public will see," said Mr Russell, "when the Order of Reference is published that there is every intention of making the inquiry complete, hot only as regards the epidemic, but also as regards the relationship of local bodies to the Public Health Department in connection with the unfortunate outbreak. The commission would probably begin its work early in February " In regard to the Public Health Board, which it is intended to set up, Mr Russell said he anticipates that there wfll bo a meeting of the Executive Council in Wellington on Tuesday, when the names of the members of the board will be passed. The names could not be disclosed at present, but the public would see that a very, strong board had been appointed.
