EMPLOYEES' SICK BENEFTT SOCIETY,
The annual meeting of the above society was held in the Trades Hall on Monday, Mr K. Pinder in the chair.
The annual report expressed regret at the death of two members during the past yeai—Messrs D. Feathers and A. Nelson,— end also of two former members—Sergeant F. Knox and Private A. Sinclair (killed on service). The amount received in subscriptions for the past year totalled £83 19s—a decrease compared with last year ot £5 2s 6d. The amount paid out in sick and funeral benefits totalled £56 Os 10d—an increase of £22 5s 10d over last year. The credit balance for the year stood at £19 14s sd. The heavy increase in expenditure "was due to the reoent epidemic. The committee considered that the claims for sick pay would be very heavy for somo time to come, and recommended that no dividend bo paid this year, and that the credit balance be carried forward to next year's account. The committee also recommended that a sum of not less than £10 should always be kept in hand to meet sick and funeral claims.
The following officers were' eleeted for tho ensuing year:—President, Mr A. Lebherz; vice-president, Mr H. Stubbs; secretary and treasurer, Mr F. Jones; trustees Messrs J. M'Arthur and R. Pinder; auditors, Messri A. Paine and W. Barker; committee—Messrs D. Petrie, R. Pinder, J. Pickford J. M , Arthur, A. Jelley, A. Paine W. Parker, and Miss A.
