The numbers for the corresponding months in 1913, 1914, 1915, 1916, and 1917 were: 193, 207, 227, 234, and 304 respectively. On the last day of the term 178 parcels for New Zealand soldieis and those of our Allies at the front were packed by the school and forwarded by the kindness of the Ladies' Committee of the Oversea. Club.—Approved. It was resolved, on the motion of the Hon. D. T. Fleming—" That the board set up a committee to consider the question of the initiation of a boarding'establishment or hostel in connection with the Girls' School." The mover referred to the lack of accommodation for country girls attending the High School, and expressed the view that the conditions under which some of the girls lived while attending the school were detrimental to their success.

Mr Gallaway seconded the motion, which was carried, and Messrs Gallaway, Stephens, Dr Fulton, the Hon. D. T. Flemfng, and the chairrrian of the board were appointed a committee.
