THE ITALIAN STRUGGLE
WITH THE BRITISH FORCES. ARTILLERY AND PATROL WORK. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association and Router. LONDON, January 20. British-Italian official : During the past week flying has been possible on only two days. Active artillery and patrol work is in progress daily. (Received Jan. 21, at 6.50 p.m.) Italian official : The British batteries caused a big. fire southward of Sernaglia. SITUATION SATISFACTORY. FURTHER INVASION IMPOSSIBLE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. WASHINGTON, January 20. General Lozzi, head of the Italian war mission, said that the expulsion of the Austrians from the Lower Piave removes the possibility of an enemy surprise, and makes further invasion of the Venetian Plain impossible.
