OTAGO HARBOUR BOARD.
ENGINEER'S REPORT. Tho resident engineer of the Harbour Board (Mr Wilkie) reports as follows under date January 17 : — During tho month of December both dredge 222 and drodgo Vulcan were out, of commission. At tho latter end of Dccember tho Priestman was dismantled at Kaitangata and railed to Dunedin, whore the overhaul and ro-erection are now in progress. During the month, of December one vessel was docked in the Otago Dock and three in the Port Chalmers Dock. Tho Otago Dock was pumped out once for purposes, making a total of fire pumps for tho month. The ■vessels occupied the docks for a total of 142£ houra. llio electric plant ran for 18jJ hours, generating power for the oleetric crane, which was engaged at various lifts for that time. For a period of five weeks, including nine clays' holiday, 816 cubic yartta of material wore ust>d in the maintenance of tho south endowment wall. Leith Canal: For a period of five weeks, including nino days' holida?, 108h of subway wall and three wing walls we.ro completed. On the 15th inst. this portion of tho subway wall was compler-od, and when the remaining' 90ft of subway floor has been concreted theso works will bo closed down.
