ORGAN RECITAL
A most interesting invitation organ recital was given in Messrs Charles Begg'arid Co.'s piano salon by Mr W. 1 Paget (organist of Knox Church) last; Messrs Begg and Co. 'given on one of the-''Positive" .pipe 1 organs, an instrument which is being introduced into a number of churches through-? :out New Zealand. . Mr GaleJs playing was' greatly admired] He 1 manipulateo«jthe organ with.- his customary skill, 'and: disr' played the features, of the Ymstrumenfc Atb; marked advantage. Mr Gale's items;.were; so uniformly good that it,is somewb^-diffir, : oUlt to particularise,; but his reodenngs\ ; of ; "Grand Choeur " and.'■"Le Sourire" were" perhaps the most'outstanding. He most equally, successful,..inbis playing of the " Caprice Orieritale": and "Minuet-' Nnj>- ! tiale," although these items represented en- v tirely different classes "of • mueical compiiji-; tion. An interesting itera'.was tiiedub.forl two organs, "Shepherds' Dance "Morris Dance," played', on', two instrii-v ments by Messrs Gale and Thomas Rijtchie.", A due't on two pipe organs is something,; of a novelty, and the item, whichi -was well' rendered; was very highly appreciated. ;Mr; C. C. Scott sang two eolos,;" If With All:: Your Hearts" ; and '" Night of Stars arid Splendour," and had to supplement ?his' items by encore numbers Mr Thomas Ritchie (manager of Messrs Begg and Co.), thanied 'those present for their attendance,; and expressed the hope that all ~iad£<qn-v ioyed the programme.
