COLONIAL DAIRY PRODUCE
GOOD METHOD OF DISTRIBUTION. Pres3 Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association. LONDON, September 17. (Received Sept. 18, at 7.30 p.m.) The Queensland Agent-general has distributed 26,000 tons of Australian, New Zealand, and Canadian cheese among 150,000 retailers, showing the state of origin. This proved a splendid advertisement, and it is believed that owing to its success the Food Controller contemplates dealing similarly with other dairy prcduce.
A cablegram from London on June 16 stated that with the assistance of a special committee, representing the provision trade, Sir T. B. Robinson had arranged a system, of which the Board of Trade and the Food Controller approved, for the distribution of New Zealand, Australian, Canadian, and United States cheese, commencing immediately. Retailers were to be supplied at a price enabling them to make a fair profit at the fixed retail price of 16d per lb, the wholesale importers receiving only a commission.
