NATIONAL EFFICIENCY
ENDEAVOUR TO EETAIN SERVICES OF BOARD. (Pbb United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, September 18. A conference of business men, with, a largo representation from the centres and many of the provincial towns, sitting in \yelEngton this afternoon and evening, carried the following resolution unanimously: "That this meeting resolves itself into a league, to be called the National Efficiency League, for the purpose of securing national efficiency, including the national prohibition of the liquor traffic in tho event of 6 o'clock closing being rejected by Parliament." Another resolution referred to the resignation of the Efficiency Board in simi-la-r terms to the Wellington Chamber of Commerce motion yesterday. It was resolved to place the resolution before the Prime Minister, and that the meeting form a deputation to Mr Ferguson and his 'colleagues, urging them- to reconsider their resignations should the ■Government request them to do so.
